murky depths

Do I know anyone that reads Murky Depths? Surely, ... surely?

First just wanted to discuss my contest submission with someone (Iss10), and then...well, a little shocked that nobody I know on twitter seems to read it.

Bueller?

Hey, Kaolin.
I like and read Murky Depths. I sent a story in for the contest too. But I suck at writing for anthos and themed stuff like that. LOL. Best of luck with the sub!

What were you looking to discuss about it?

Re: ?
I don't know, really. I didn't write it soon enough for time to crit it. I'm really curious what other takes people had on the story. In mine, they were sort of demonic fairies trying to destroy mankind's linear understanding of time (or something like that).

Part of it is I just can't share my story with the usual folks, so I'm writing in more of a void than I'm used to, even if critting wouldn't really help anything at this point.

This is also the first time I've written a story to a contest where the story really can't be tweaked to sub around normally without massive restructuring/rethinking.

Any interest in swapping stories? :)

Re: ?
*hee* we both gave the factory/office a fountain, though I didn't actually describe mine.

Is there a link? I haven't read Murky Depths, but I'd be happy to read your sub and give my opinion.

The problem with sharing what I wrote is that you have to have read the first half of the story in Issue 10. An interesting gimmick that I'm finding exceptionally frustrating after the fact. ;)

Cool
Yeah, I was thinking how hard it'll be to sell the second half of Now! & Then! if it doesn't win. I don't know how to explain mine. I usually get more carried away with the characters than the concepts. LOL. I'll probably just use the character and put him in a similar situation. Sure I haven't even read mine since I subbed it. You can email yours to me and I'll email mine back. perpetual_voodoo (at) yahoo . com. Looking forward to seeing what you came up with. Lee

Re: Cool
I think my interesting characters in this piece are the ones that really take the first half to understand--primarily Paul and his mother. :)

I've never even heard of it...:(

Edited to add: I don't have anything written to trade right now but I'm home tomorrow if you want a reader. :)

And now you've heard of it ;) :) http://murkydepths.com/

If Von ever does more horror-oriented comic shorts (3-6 pages), I strongly recommend checking them out. Well, I recommend checking them out anyway :heh: I don't have a subscription, but I've gotten a few issues.

got it
and sent mine back your way. Let me know what you think, Kaolin.

Issue 10 was a good issue. You can buy a Pdf of it really cheap on their website (is that what you did, K?), got great writers like Lavie Tidhar in there. Well worth the money.

Re: got it
I actually got a physical copy. I'm a sucker for print. :) Though I also got a PDF of another issue or two (I helped Terry set up the PDF system).
