Friday Flash: Letting Go

Letting Go

She tossed the words out with the kitchen trash: love had tarnished, hate had faded to a dull gray, and hope seemed more like ratty cheesecloth than the gilded kite she'd once flown her heart from. The nursing home had a limited allowance; she could let go of a few worthless words.

Love the imagery. You weren't inspired by my latest GUD sub? No? Then we just must breathe the same kind of metaphor. ;0)

:heh: This was an initially discarded attempt to follow last week's "Show Me Your Lits" prompt, which was (at least in part) along the lines of "throwing words into the void to see if they echoed".

But it's a lovely brand of metaphor. =) I think not the sort I usually pull off, which is part of why I had to wrap it up some and share. :)
