GUD Issue 5--is ALIVE! :D

What's not to love???

Issue 5

... WRAPS A SCIENTIFIC CORE WITH OUR MOST ECLECTIC SELECTION TO DATE—including two "mini graphic novels", and a script that will have you bubbling over with mirth.

We open with Rose Lemberg's "Imperfect Verse", a tale of poetry, deception, and warring gods; then span the years to Andrew N. Tisbert's "Getting Yourself On", which sees mankind taken to the stars but suffering new forms of wage-slavery.

There's science fiction that stretches to the fantastic, science that once stretched the fantastic and has now become brilliantly pervasive, and dollops of science in otherwise mundane lives (see "The Prettiest Crayon in the Box").

Of course, we've got fantasy, psychological horror, humor and drama; poetry serious, sublime, and satirical; and art that stretches from the real, to the surreal, to the violently semi-abstract.

read some teasers! or just buy it, hey? ;)

Came across it in a "top 40 surreal images" sort of list, and was thrilled that I managed to track it down and that the artist said yes. =)

If I'm not mistaken (and I'm often mistaken), you haven't gotten Iss4 yet. Somebody's slacking in the Christmas presents department ;)

You're not mistaken. Grandmother still hasn't gotten around to it! I need to nudge her. ;) I'm thinking MeGaAAaAa subscription!!

BTW, I was *this* close to mentioning GUD in class the other day. But he was talking specifically about 'online' mags. And I think free, too. :(

:heh: There are some pro online free mags out there. Would be curious what your list looked like. :)

He mainly harped on http://www.elimae.com/ (Mostly, I guess, because he was published in it)

And he explained discovering new ones by going through its links which I think are all free, online mags.

WHO DAT! :D (Be glad you don't live down here btw. I think it's dangerous to go outside pretty much everywhere. haha)

:HEH: Oh, I'm glad I don't live there. I lived near enough, long enough; did Mardi Gras in Galveston once (and saw my first fresh human brains spilled on the ground). Visited N'Orleans once or twice. :)

Kind of surprised he'd mention finding magazines any way other than through Duotrope, though.

God, I love that cover. I'm still pretending that it was painted just for me.

I think I've been hit by the train that was at the end of the tunnel. Still trying to figure everything else out ;)

Hoping I'll be able to start writing/critting/editingmyownstuff soonish. I hear there's lives to be had out there...

Well, I *was* going to gush about the cover, but I've seen the masses have already beat me to that.

And deservedly so; this image kicks ass.

Well chosen.
