Chrome's still blazing fast and wonderful--when it's not pulling every page from disk.

Also really don't get why windows is so ... active about using it's (*$&(# page file when I have perfectly good memory going to waste. (was going without a page file for a while but got tired of "living on the edge").

I'm curious what happens when you leave chrome running and unplug the network cable.

Hmm. I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary when I've lost internet connection. What do you imagine? This is something I can certainly test, leave it running long enough... opening and closing tabs, etc. :)

It's crawled up to 2.35GB so far.

I was wondering how much of that cpu activity was because chrome was calling home with the contents of your browser history and cache.

The huge spike on start-up you mean? I don't think chrome uses much cpu when idle except for if there's a lot of flash going on--and I'll usually kill that plugin when I'm not using it actively.
