An earthquake? In california?

5.6 2 miles SW of Chino

I'm about 60 miles away and it lasted maybe 10 seconds, a nice rolling wave. A friend only 40 miles away felt aftershocks. My brother in law, 120 miles away, felt it as "the most mellow earthquake of [his] life".

I don't think a 5.6 is enough to do real damage to a place that's built to stand earthquakes, but I'm curious what it was like in Chino anyway. Anyone there? I do hope everyone's alright.

I saw it on CNN!

I like how the last three posts on my friends list are all about the EQ.

Bree texted me from Pasadena saying, "That was so cool!"

p.s. I'm going to be in town for a few weeks starting tomorrow night--maybe we should actually get together?

Good to hear you're safe. I've been through several quakes (tremors, aftershocks etc) having been born, and later returned for high school in CA...
...I knew enough to know that a 5.6 while enough to scoot chairs and knock and occasional item over, generally not too damaging.

But still, glad to hear that you're safe.

I have another LJ friend in Cali and she said it wasn't bad for her. Not sure how close she was, but she definitely felt it. All her friends were texting her to see if she was alright.
