how many days are in _your_ months?

30 days hath september, april, june, and november.

really, you'd think I could remember this.

trying, some, through use. It's one of those things that always just slid on by me, like the 26 letters in the alphabet (though I know M is 13 and :not quite: the middle... so I've mostly got it down... but for the longest I confused it with 27, which is a _much_ better number)

30 days hath september, april, june, and november. not to be thrown entirely off track.

I can do this, or I'll have to stop making fun of people who can't keep left and right straight. ((no, I don't really make fun, but it boggles the mind. just like this.))

30 days hath september, april, june, and november.

quick, ask me a question! ;)

So one could then say that work has helped you discover the meaning of life?

42 was the ANSWER!

42 with a question mark is still the answer ... it just looks more confused.

A simpler (for me) method
Personally, I usually find the knuckle calendar approach to be easier. Make a fist of one hand, and count down the nuckles and spaces. When you get to the end, start over. Knuckle=31, Space=Short (usually 30, but February cheats):
January
 February
March
&nbap;April
May
 June
July
(start over)
August
 September
October
 November
December

Re: A simpler (for me) method
I'd heard of the knuckle method, but I don't think I'd had it described. Seems like it would take a longer recall period for any given month--and it appears you've got to leave off the thumbs? I suppose they hide away when you make a fist. Sort of begs at least 14 months, even with the thumbs hiding. ;)

Still, a good way to second-guess myself if I lose the 4-month rule.

hmm -- somehow i find it easiest (or at least sufficient) to just remember that the months alternate being long and short, except for the two named after roman emperors (julius and augustus caesar), who were vain and wanted long months. so long as you also remember the order of the months, and that february is the shortest one, it's fully defined. i find this easier than any ryhmes.. i just think "did the last month have 31 days?", etc.

any certain months are easy to remember, too, like october (haloween!) and december (new years eve).. so obviously november has to be short, and september (a forgettable month, i think) has to be as well. february is easy to remember because it's weirdly short, so january and march have to be long. april, may, june, i have to think about a little.

Eh, don't worry about it so much. Odds are you won't be thinking about it towards the end of the damn month anyway! =D How the hell have you been? Haven't seen you around in a while!

been.

been, been, bean.

busy, I guess.

I can't keep track.

Not much visible progress, though.

For instance, spent around 6 hours solid between last night and this morning fixing "comment indentation" on poemranker.com.

Working 9-6 regularly.

Doing a little bit of writing, but not completing anything--mostly weekly/biweekly flash challenges. I guess working on imaginaries.org a bit, which is related to writing.

Unwinding a bit.

Still ignoring most of the big things in my life I should not be ignoring so much, like getting my name legally updated everywhere, getting my motorcycle registered under my new name (_ulp_ -- it's a month late, now, and climbing). Details.

Fucking details.

I'm not good at the details, so much. Or not when there's so many of them, and they don't really relate.

Hmm.

Yeah.

Really, depressingly little to say.
