Friday was very cool. http://speculativeliterature.org/Media_Kit/Release_03_17_04.txt -- The Speculative Literature Foundation held a fundraiser on April 23, 2004, at Omnicircus. There wasn't much light, and I didn't have a tripod, and I was anxious, a bit, about taking flash photography (more intrusive), so... well, it's a memory. :) It was a hell of a lot of fun. Mary Anne has a writeup that I need to incorporate with photos and get up onto the main site, somehow somewhere. I'm not as good as I'd like at working on other people's stuff without being given extensive direction. A shame. Working on it. Photos: http://erif.org/g/slfomnicurcus

Saturday was starcraft. Played with Julie, and then Amy and Julie, ... or something like that. Maybe I played with Julie on Thursday. Found a map with very nice challenge. Amy didn't get nearly as much work done as she would have liked.

Sunday was parents and computers. Max's box fried, and Jill's was acting wonky. They came down and we hung out and whatnot. All went out for Indian buffet, as has been Amy's ritual for months, now. Then I started an install of win2k on Jill's box, had it die on a format--went to compusa and got new heatsink/fans for both boxes, jumped through hoops to get jill's box back to happy enough to install fresh, then moved on to Max's. He was sure it was the power supply, but I didn't trust that. Jill forked out for a new cpu, and sure enough that didn't fix anything. I happened to have an old power supply that I'd swapped out on alethe.net for a cooler-running one (when it finally turned out to have been, at least partially, a dying hard drive on alethe), so I hooked that up to max's board, and still nothing, though it was a little better. swapped out graphics cards, but nochange. then the OLD cpu went in and the new/old/alethe power supply, and magic. looks like the board didn't support the new cpu and the old power supply was blown. Which I'll have to look into--maybe only parts of it are. ((motherboard tester light comes on...)) Perhaps a fuse? Hmm. So I wound up shelling out money for two cpu fans and some arctic silver (beautiful thermo stuff!), and got an athlon 2500+ out of the deal (hey, 333 FSB and 512k L2 cache). Some day I'll upgrade my 600MHz duron gaming machine. ;)

Amy's getting interviews! She's a good teacher, looks great on paper, and performs well in the classroom. She's got two interviews down in L.A. on ... Friday, I think. And she's hoping for another interview (from a college that hasn't quite formally posted the position, so waiting...) in a few months.

Google Adsense is a pittance. But it's a nice pittance, free, and in-the-long-run quite useful.

What's best? A few days ago I posted NFG, poemranker, skwerms, falling up, and timbuk2. 'Faling Up' is the only thing with a positive score at this point. Which is kinda cool. I'm glad _something_ did, and I'm glad it's one of the ones that was wholly mine. Hoping that people seeing the things that they do not know will count as some small amount of free advertising.

Mypics! Mypics.alethe.net has had a couple of people I don't know sign up for it. Whahoo! I'm still brainstorming how to make it more attractive.
Such is life.
