I submitted falling up to icewalk, which is a linux software site. Now, I'm kinda cheating in that I don't actually have a compiled version, but theoretically the commented source that's up should be all that someone needs. So go vote on it! ;) Also... what other sites should I submit it to? I want to be popular. or something.

In that vein, someone on the recent lj news post made a post saying "I'm sexy", unrelated to everything. So in that thread I made a post to 'falling up'. unrelated to everything. Unfortunately, my post being a reply to a reply was buried in the top-level view. But. La. It still seems to have drummed up a handful of hits.

Did I mention I made a windows installer for it using nullsoft's installer? nsis kicks ass for simplicity and ease of use. :) relatively. Especially compared to anything I would have written on my own, eh? La. :)

[edit: also posted to tucows; estimated posting delay, 11 days. interesting system. you can pay to go to the head of the line, pay to get a notice on the homepage, pay for a _detailed_ review...]

there - I voted!

yEs, tucows has quite a system. Money grubbers everywhere - maybe they need the money...

Hah, now with three votes. Funny, I thought yours was the second vote because it happened right around the time you commented on my sketches. :) So now I wonder who _that_ was. The first one was mine. We're RAWKING. ;) :)

I'm eager to see what my tucows posting looks like. Hopefully it works. It doesn't give me 'estimated days' anymore, though ... maybe it does _somewhere_. I'm now 1314 of 1376. Aha, found it. Still 11 days. $2000 will get me UNLIMITED 'first class' submissions for a year. $65 will get me a "professional" first class submission, $50 a 'standard' one. And $20 will get me pasted on the "HUB" page, what's new listing... and the in-depth review is $249. Just had to record all that for posterity. Craziness.

Ooh, 4 votes now!

It's the little things...

I think I have my next game just about spec'd out. It's going to be an asteroids derivative, but hopefully more novel than the tetris derivative. I can't wait to start working on it. =)

945/1418. Still 10 days away. How fucking absurd is that? I'm already considering releasing a new version at this point. Er, developing a new version. Whatever.

Mar. 9th, 2004 12:19 pm (UTC)
251 of 1758. estimated 13 days more. It's been... 43. version 004 seems to be getting decent publicity on "the other sites". ((freshmeat, versiontracker, icewalkers)). Where else should I be posting?

Also, tucows is upping their standards as of Mar. 15. Blargh!

Have you submitted it to VersionTracker? (www.versiontracker.com)
Feb. 13th, 2004 11:42 am (UTC)
I think I tried once and got scared away by the registration process wanting to know all about the people who work at my company, their contact info, yadda.

So now I subscribed normally, but don't see the 'submit your software' link. Today's not going so well for me. :)

Hmm. it's the 'developers' link that scared me away before.

And yeah, that's required.

but it looks like only a small amount of the crazy form needs to be filled out. hmm.

okay, now waiting on them to review my basic application.

tucows still says '11 days' before they post it.

:whee: :)

thanks for the nudge.
