I made the brick road.  That took ... more hours than I'd care to admit.  I think I could do it a lot more quickly given another try.  I probably will at some point...  I made the spaceship yesterday.  Both were done in DAZ|Hexagon, textures done in photoshop.  The spaceship is actually fairly poorly seamed, so I can only show one side of it... I need to fix that if I'm going to use it in Detritus (which I'm really thinking I want to, now--it's so pretty, eh?).

A little pricy, though. But I keep flipping back to a render I recently did NSFW ).

How cool would it be to have my recent artwork up on my wall? Eh?

Without the cost of printing and storing and all that jazz.

bottle and 'space creature' were the two primary tutorials for Hexagon, a new program DAZ recently bought and is making available for $2 to platinum members for a short time... Scene rendered in DAZ|Studio, ground texture is a photo I took once of some burned wood.

new stripfight

A new stripfight -- yep, it's Monday. :)

I did mine in 30 minutes, starting from 20 minutes to spare--and photoshop was NOT cooperating with me. I was going to rework it after the deadline, but I'm not sure. Is it worth a re-do?

Wound up playing in DAZ|Studio a lot more. I think I'm done tinkering. Still haven't figured out 'shadows' properly, but I managed to create something in Blender and export it to DAZ|Studio, and that's a HUGE step for me ((exporting from Blender to wavefront obj wasn't giving it uv coordinates, or something like; drove me crazy all weekend, netless, unable to research. Figured it out in a few more hours (well, give or take on the figured it out) after coming home -- http://uvmapper.com/ is the answer. Just import, export, and BAM, default uv mapping, and now I can texture in DAZ|Studio!

I figure I should sort and post pictures from the trip. (Thanks for all the well-wishes! I think they did some good. :) ) I'm not happy with any of the solutions I've used for such to date, but maybe that's just going to have to be the state of the world.

First, I've got 'web galleries' exported from Photoshop... I tweaked the template minimally, and like that perhaps best of all, so far. Would write up an overview/description on the front page. The thing I like least about it is that there's no metadata, no dynamicism. It's all just flat html, which means exporting to any other system is going to suck.

Then I started using Gallery, and it's... nice enough, but not quite enough, for me. I don't know why, but I'm really not happy with it. [info]zotsf says Gallery 2 is much nicer, but I'm kind of scared of trying it. I think I tried upgrading to one of the betas a couple of times, to no avail. And then there's hacking its template to work with the rest of my site. Still, the data is somewhat dynamic and the code is opensource, so there's pluses there if there's anything else I _REALLY_ want to do with it. I remember hating how Gallery 1 was coded, not wanting to get my fingers wet... but I hear that was the general consensus and is why Gallery 2 exists.

Then there was http://mypics.alethe.net/, which was wonderful for a bit, but... just another albatross, now?

And scrapbook is cool. But. Eh. I don't know. =/

And no, I don't want to use flickr. I've got way too many pictures and I don't want to pay for it.

sort of did their basic tutorial, but had to play around a bit more, of course. of course, of course. their base model, with various parameter tweaks and faerie attachments, and a number of copies of the same rock with different morph parameters. Stars done in photoshop, of course.

There's a new thought up today (and I've got three in the queue, at the moment. I've been doing two a week for three weeks, now?). This week's thought was done in response to last week's Illustration Friday (topic: monster) and a call for art in [info]markets -- where it was accepted and so will be appearing in a chocoholic zine titled, subtly enough, Chocholic! (issue 3).

I'm feeling good about this week's stripfight, too (which you can see ahead of schedule early tomorrow).

Of course, if you go poking through my lj galleries, you can see all of the thought comics at once, but I'd really rather you went and lent your hits to thoughts dot comicgenesis dot com and fed my ego a little bit. And added [info]thoughts_comic to your friendlist for reminders, of course. Of course.

Bidding on poser 6 on ebay. Like a moron, I keep upping my bid when I'm outbid. Maybe it's best I've never gone to Vegas (Ah, blow it all. That's what you're there for!) I'm at my really and truly final bid though. 2 days, 21 hours to go, and I've bid higher than another one that's only got 1 day, 1 hour to go. How sad is that?

Went to a party last night--my brother-in-law's band, Mjolner's Fall, played. Ed (Amy's brother) led guitar (oh yeah), Trevor aka Insane on drums, and, er, rhythm guitarist. I videotaped. Probably not the worst job of it I could have done, but, well, better next time, or something. They'll find someone better, I'll be better, it'll be more professional equipment, or some combination thereof. The bands leading up were just ... muddy and uninteresting. It was sort of foreboding, but Mjolner's Fall really rocked it. I was enthused, and if I hadn't been holding the camera I would have seen about getting into the pit that kept trying to form (at one point the pit got pretty nice). I was worried, beforehand, that I'd embarass myself bouncing around out of breath and infinitely weak compared to a bunch of highschool students... but whatever.

On that note--I did yoga twice last week, which is an incalculable improvement (or infinite--depending on your mood?) over the previous many, many weeks. I hope to keep the trend--I think I've found a gimmick that works for me (after lunch, since I'm already taking a break), but it all depends on how work works out, probably.
