*ranker

I had an idea for how to make a ranking site a little harder to 'game' last night. (this would work more easily for the next site I do, because it's going to be visual). put two up side by side and allow a user to vote for one of them as better, or the same. and only allow voting through the 'random'. though I think perhaps just to only allow voting through the 'random' could be enough to really stifle gaming.

I recognise the English words but I cannot say I understood what I read: "game", "rank", and "...voting through the 'random'".

context: poemranker

to game something is to rig it. voting certain poems up and down (generally anonymously or with faked accounts).

you can go to the 'random' page which allows you to vote on a random selection.

poemranker currently allows you to vote on any poem you find, by searching through users, seeing them on the best/worst, seeing them on the recently posted list, ...

The exercise of "ranking' poetry may be the leading cause of this.

Imagine living or dying by the random voting of anonymous others. That was worse than the Gladiatorial games in Roman.

You'd have to be fucked in the head. But then, a lot of wannabe poets are. A lot of good poets are, too. Perhaps.
